Having a personal voice is the most important component of a sustainable and fulfilling artistic career. In this 9-week class, we will explore ways to find and sharpen your voice, hone your aesthetic skills, learn how to apply creative thinking, push past creative barriers, and discover how to become a unique and desirable voice in the industry.
This is a visual development industry class applicable to film, games, and television, with mock assignments covering various aspects of what the job is like, including keyframes, storyboarding, and designing characters and props while exploring a variety of styles.
Get ready to step outside your comfort zone as we discover our artistic voices together! There will be a strong emphasis on how to approach keyframes for storytelling, iterating on ideas, discussions of style versus substance, sketchbook exploration, observation from life, experimentation with different mediums, research and reference analysis, film studies, and more.
Duration: 9 weeks
Format: Weekly 4-hour live class combining lectures, demonstrations, and feedback. Recordings will be provided within 24 hours of each class.Skill Level: Some drawing experience is recommended for those seeking feedback; spectating is open to all skill levels.
Tiers: Participate and receive feedback, or spectate (spectators will usually have time to ask questions at the end of each class).
Materials: Sketchbook. Any digital or traditional mediums. Paint-overs will be done digitally.
